In 1995 she competed again in the same event, that time in Oporto, where she obtained the first place in the women's voice category. A new "fadista" was born. Invitations from in and outside the country began to pour in and since then Joana has been performed all over Europe, South America and Japan. Jimi Hendrix Expirience Are You Experienced Album : Are You Experienced Artist : Jimi Hendrix Expirience Release Date : 1967 Lable : Universal Number of Discs : 1 Genre : Rock Total time : 01:00:12 Total size : 91,7 MB Tracks : 1. Are You Experienced? 12. Stone Free 13. 51st Anniversary 14. Highway Chile 15. Can You See Me 16. Remember 17. Red House @ VBR mp3 Jimi Hendrix's debut recording was an instant classic, and is as startling today as when it first hit the streets in 1967. ARE YOU EXPERIENCED? is probably the most rock-oriented of Hendrix's official studio releases, but its influences are incredibly diverse. "Third Stone From The Sun" recalls the supple octaves of jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery; the churning Afro-Cuban polyrhythms of "Manic Depression" evoke John Coltrane and Elvin Jones; "I Don't Live Today" employs ritualistic Native American drumbeats; and the title tune borrows the Eastern airs of sitarist Ravi Shankar. The mix, beautifully refreshed on this 1997 reissue, is dark and churning, a dense wall of sound. Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding blast away with a barely controlled fury, and there's a distorted metallic edge to Hendrix's guitar timbre that has made ARE YOU EXPERIENCED? a particular favorite among rock and heavy-metal guitarists. "Purple Haze" and "Foxey Lady" helped define the power-trio format, thanks to Hendrix's full-bodied rhythm guitar and his soaring solos. ARE YOU EXPERIENCED? also established Hendrix as a singer-songwriter. His Dylanesque vocals and spacey imagery make each tune a little gem, especially on gentle outings such as the ballad "The Wind Cries Mary." But it's true. While Floyd has undergone many changes in that timeframe--most notably the breakdown of Syd Barrett, the bitter fallout between Roger Waters and David Gilmour, and plenty of other drama and mysticism to insure the band's place in the pantheon of rock 'n roll history—the album still sounds fresh and vibrant, at least in terms of capturing the sound and style of 1967 era London. If you've never listened to The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, then you're definitely in for a treat. For the 3-disc set (which is really the way to go if you're going to splurge on the 40th Anniversary edition or if you've never owned the album prior) Disc's 1 and 2 present the album in its original mono, as well as a stereo version, respectively. Disc 3, meanwhile, serves up the group's earlier singles and some out/alternate takes of a few songs. The album was released on May 14 in the UK and July 15 in the United States. A re-mastered CD was released in 1996 with a different album cover; a three-dimensional version of the original sketch drawn by drummer Nick Mason for the initial release. The release of Relics was sparked by the success of Atom Heart Mother which peaked at #1 on the British charts. The album has been released on numerous occasions, and at times without the proper authority. One such incident involved EMI Australia releasing the album without the band's consent. This led to the LP being withdrawn and the album as a result became a rarity. A reissue of the album in 1996 meant that it could be purchased easily again. Instrumental @ 160 Kbit/s mp3 Amazon.com essential recording This 1990 recording contains one of the best African blues tunes ever recorded, and a classic Ali Farka Toure moment. As the electric guitar roars in at the opening, punctured by a darting harmonica line, "Heygana" lays out the roots and branches of the blues in its journey from west Africa to the Americas, and more importantly, back again. Sung in the Songhai language, pushed by a vaguely reggae groove and pulled along by a sometimes idiosyncratic percussion line on a calabash, it pretty well epitomizes what Toure is about. The sound is stripped down, with the guitar and voice working a bare minimum groove. The calabash clicks, a thick stringed ngoni adds some punch, and a few tracks feature Toure on the njarka (fiddle). In addition to Rory McLeod's harmonica, there is one piece with The Chieftains' Seane Keane and Kevin Conneff on fiddle and bodhran (Irish goatskin drum), and a marvelous duet with saxophonist Steve Williamson that adds a little sideways R&B. The River is one of Toure's most straightforward recordings made in the decade after the light of his international fame had first shone. --Louis Gibson Download: http://rapidshare.com/files/318513145/W_Africa_1990FarkaRiver__160.rar

Tombo @ 160 Kbit/s mp3 *********** Angélique Kidjo's high-powered soprano and stage charisma have carried the diminutive singer far from her native country of Bénin. She recorded her first solo album in Paris, her second in Miami, and her new one, Ayé in London with Soul II Soul's Will Mowat as one producer and in Minneapolis with Prince sidekick David Z. as the other. Kidjo sings in Fon and Yoruba (West African languages), but both producers as well as her cowriter Jean Hébrail reinforce her African rhythms with programmed drums and synths. The result is neither African music nor Anglo-American pop but a strange hybrid that contains some of the most exciting dance music anywhere today. African purists will be annoyed that Mowat and Z. have pushed Kidjo even further from her roots than before. American dance club denizens will be bothered that they can't understand what she's singing (the translations in the CD booklet for Ayé suggest they aren't missing much--mere platitudes about optimism, tolerance, the homeless, love and God). Americans may also be thrown by the skipping polyrhythms of Kidjo's music, so different from the fat, on-the-one funk they're used to. Yet it's Kidjo's ability to sing strong and hard (with a little sizzle in her timbre as the notes trail off) even as she skips effortlessly through the polyrhythms that makes her sound so fresh. Her triumph is not the breakthrough of real Sub-Saharan music but of a new international pop that marries West African beats to the technology of the Western dance record. --Geoffrey Himes Download: http://rapidshare.com/files/293936288/W_Africa_1994_KidjoAye__160.rar

Meddle did, however, show that the reigning British monarchs of 1970s-era psychedelia could rip into galloping jams. It also showed what its predecessor, Atom Heart Mother, promised--that the band could excel in long, breathtaking suites that revealed strains of late-classical music, Sun Ra-inspired space explorations, and a patchwork approach to colliding sounds that together took on acid-drenched proportions. And if all that isn't enough, "San Tropez" revealed a playful side of the band, playing footsy with loungy jazz and having good fun in the process. --Andrew Bartlett Download: http://rapidshare.com/files/161172885/__1971_MedPipi__320.rar

Atom Heart Mother Suite: • Father's Shout • Breast Milky • Mother Fore • Funky Dung • Mind Your Thr... 2. If 3. Summer '68 4. Fat Old Sun 5. Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast: Rise And Shine / Sunny Side Up / Morning Glory @ 320 Kbit/s mp3 ATOM HEART MOTHER is a collaboration between Pink Floyd and avant-garde composer Ron Geesin. When rock operas by the Kinks and the Who were relatively new and Deep Purple was working with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Pink Floyd entered the '70s with ATOM HEART MOTHER, a symphonic endeavor whose centerpieces are two long compositions divided up into movements. Starting out as a chord sequence written by Dave Gilmour, the title track became a sprawling masterpiece co-written and arranged by Scottish composer Ron Geesin. Throughout 20 minutes of movements titled "Breast Milky," "Funky Dung," and "Mind Your Throat Please," grandiose brass sections bubble over, otherworldly choruses strike a chord of impending doom, and individual Floyd contributions pop up amid all the orchestration. The other sprawling piece, "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast," starts out with the sounds of someone puttering about in his home and occasionally muttering to himself, broken up by either the swirling keyboards of Richard Wright or the dulcet tones of David Gilmour's acoustic guitar. The remaining three tracks are Roger Waters' folkie ballad "If," the baroque psychedelic pop of Wright's "Summer '68," and Gilmour's "Fat Old Sun." ATOM HEART MOTHER is one of the band's more overtly experimental and challenging works; yet it remains a secret favorite of die-hard fans. Pink Floyd: David Gilmour (vocals, guitar); Roger Waters (vocals, bass instrument); Richard Wright (keyboards); Nick Mason (drums, percussion). Recording information: Abbey Road Studios, London, England; EMI Studios, London, England. Additional personnel: John Aldiss Choir (background vocals). Thus the Bad Seeds were born, second only to Cave's former band in their ability to create a rumbling caterwaul. What makes the Bad Seeds stand apart, though, are the elements of delta blues that Cave dredges up from the darkest recesses of his black, black heart--blues unlike any you've ever heard before--and his Faulkner-meets-Lovecraft lyrical obsessions. "Well of Misery" shambles along drunkenly and eventually crumbles under its somnambulant pace. On the title track Cave exhorts, begs, and pleads like a whiskey priest begging for forgiveness after a bender while Bargeld's guitar shrieks and wails like a congregation of devils. Including two of Cave's more inspired covers--Leonard Cohen's "Avalanche" and Presley's "In the Ghetto"--From Her to Eternity captures Cave at the noisy intersection between the punk-rock entropy of the Birthday Party and his later incarnation as the gothic Elvis. Amazing, scary stuff. --Tod Nelson Download: http://rapidshare.com/files/122110860/__1984_NiCaEternity__192.rar

Ummagumma is a double album, divided into live and studio halves. The live cuts--"Astronomy Domine," "Careful with That Axe, Eugene," "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun," and "A Saucerful of Secrets"--established the Floyd's predilection for gloomily atmospheric and faintly preposterous sci-fi bombast that would turn them into such a successful stage act. The kindest that may be said of the studio compositions--by and large interminable avant-prog rambles in search of the lost chord--is that they haven't dated terribly well. --Andrew Mueller Part1: http://rapidshare.com/files/161147499/__1969_UmmaPinkGumma1__256.rar Part2: http://rapidshare.com/files/161155600/__1969_UmmaPinkGumma2__256.rar

Dramatic Theme @ 256 Kbit/s mp3 Amazon.com Concocted for director Barbet Schroeder's dystopian hippie road flick, this album marks Floyd's first venture into film "scoring," a task they undertake with a verve that overshadows their lack of formal training in the field. With just a handful of cuts echoing the trippy, atmospheric space-rock that was so much a part of their early career, there's a surprisingly familiar dedication to songcraft evident here, especially for a soundtrack. Roger Waters's acoustic ballads ("Cirrus Minor," "Crying Song," "Green is the Color"), dark and dirge-like, are familiar predecessors to music that would highlight Wish You Were Here and The Wall, while Dave Gilmour's slashing riffs on "The Nile Song" also foreshadow greatness to come. Moody and surprisingly eclectic, More has rightly earned its place as a Floyd cult fave. --Jerry McCulley Download: http://rapidshare.com/files/161145173/__1969_MorePipi__256.rar

Despite her small frame, her voice is incredibly strong and rich, and her musicians outstanding (typically consisting a a guitar trio and piano accordion, with violin and piano on some tracks). If you don't know much about fado, or have any concerns about buying a CD which is after all, all in Portuguese, have no fear - this is musical artistry which transcends language and style. Anyone who loves the great vocalists of jazz and blues, or just has a hankering for the warmth and pathos of Mediterranean music Download: http://rapidshare.com/files/285435880/W_Fado_1993_MisiaFado__192.rar

Pink Floyd A Saucerful of Secrets Album : A Saucerful of Secrets Artist : Pink Floyd Release Date : 1968 Genre : Rock Total time : 00:38:39 Total size : 93,9 MB Tracks: 1. Let There Be More Light 2. Remember a Day 3. Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun 4. Corporal Clegg 5. Saucerful of Secrets 6. See-Saw 7. Jugband Blues @ 320 Kbit/s mp3 A Saucerful of Secrets is the second album by rock band Pink Floyd, and marks the group's stylistic change from psychedelic to progressive rock. It was recorded at EMI's Abbey Road Studios, at various dates from August, 1967 to April, 1968. Due to Syd Barrett's declining mental state, this was to be the last Pink Floyd album that he would work on. During its difficult recording sessions, Barrett became increasingly unstable and in January of 1968, David Gilmour was brought in. Barrett was finally removed from the band by early March, leaving this new incarnation of Pink Floyd to finish the album. As a result, A Saucerful of Secrets is the only non-compilation Pink Floyd album on which all five band members appear, with Gilmour appearing on five songs (Let There Be More Light, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, Corporal Clegg, A Saucerful of Secrets, and See-Saw) and Barrett on three (Remember a Day, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, and Jugband Blues). As well as "Jugband Blues", the album was to include "Vegetable Man," another Syd Barrett song. However, the band believed "Vegetable Man", with its autobiographical lyrics, was unsuitable for inclusion and so it was left off the album. The song was to appear on a single as the b-side to another unreleased track, "Scream Thy Last Scream". Two additional Syd Barrett songs, "In The Beechwoods" and "No Title" were also recorded early in the sessions for the album. An image of the Living Tribunal from Marvel Comics can be seen in the cover's upper left corner. "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" is the only Pink Floyd song that features all five band members. Keyboardist Rick Wright sings lead or backing vocals on four of the album's seven songs, making this the only Pink Floyd album where Wright's vocal contributions outnumber those of the rest of the band. Those people who were able to experience the golden age of Yiddish theater and music firsthand are now, unfortunately, largely gone. The new generation of singers does not compare with those writers, artists and performers who drew from their own personal experiences to produce works infused with a tremendous richness. However one jewel remains: Myriam Fuks. Born into a family of Yiddish singers with whom she toured since childhood, Myriam's performances fill her audiences with awe. She delivers every musical phrase with a naturalness and intimacy that otherwise seems to have been lost forever. What Myriam offers is simply the fruit of a life spent immersed in Yiddish culture. Yiddish – her mother tongue – is her way of life. Her life has been a voyage, often alone, but with a myriad of memories, jokes, suffering, and joy... in short, A Life. And her music reflects the depth of her experience. Download: http://rapidshare.com/files/284297366/W_Jewish_1998_FuksSingsLebedeff.rar

O Fortuna [00:02:45] Comments: Penguin: Previn's 1975 analogue version, vividly recorded, still leads the available recorded performances of Orff's most popular work. It is strong on humour and rhythmic point. The chorus sings vigorously, the men often using an aptly rough tone, and if there is at times a lack of absolute precision, the resilience of Previn's rhythms, finely sprung, brings out a strain not just of geniality but of real wit. This is a performance which swaggers along and makes you smile. The recording captures the antiphonal effects impressively, better even in the orchestra than in the chorus. Among the soloists, Thomas Allen's contribution is one of the glories of the music making, and in their lesser roles the soprano and tenor are equally stylish. The digital re-mastering is wholly successful. The choral bite is enhanced, yet the recording retains its full amplitude. The background hiss has been minimised and is only really apparent in the quieter vocal solos in the latter part of the work. A triumphant success.
