Produced with the blessing of his estate, this disc is a thorough survey of his timeless genius--all recorded on the Capitol label. It captures his sumptuous and soothing tenor voice crooning on the pop tunes he made famous, like the ethereal "Nature Boy," the melancholy "Mona Lisa," and the bouncy "Straighten Up and Fly Right," and "Route 66." It also features Cole's often-overlooked skills as an Earl Hines-style pianist. "Quizas, Quizas, Quizas (Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps)," and "Darling, Je Vous Aime Beaucoup," attest to his international appeal, and see if you can keep a dry eye when you listen to Natalie Cole's posthumous, digitally-enhanced duet with her father on "Unforgettable." From strings to big bands, Nat King Cole is never out of style. --Eugene Holley, Jr. Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EKFKH87E http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Q4JVFTEN

That's All @VBR mp3 *********** Two Men with the Blues is no more a jazz album than a blues album. It's neither jazz returning home, nor blues wandering out. What Willie Nelson and Wynton Marsalis have created is a compilation of jump-blues standards with arrangements that compliment both genres. While most of the album is careful not to take itself too seriously, there are a few tracks that seem to plod on for ages. The live set kicks off with the upbeat "Bright Lights, Big City," on which Marsalis' horn is crisp and full. "Ain't Nobody's Business" and "Basin Street Blues" are arranged slower than better known versions but still fit the album's context. Nelson and Marsalis's take on "Stardust" comes off as a bit too "Sinatra" for Nelson's thin vocal, while "Georgia on My Mind" just doesn't work at all. Still, the things that work, work well. "Night Life" and "Rainy Day Blues" are particular stand-outs, and "Caldonia" is a faithful homage to the Louis Jordan original--minus Jordan's screaming punch line, of course. The album ends riding high on the last song, "That's All," with its straight-out-of-a-New-Orleans-Baptist-church feel. Both Nelson and Marsalis are notorious for collaborating with other artists. Therefore, it seems only natural that they've found themselves on a project together. Overall, this set is well worth the wait. --Eric C.P. Martin Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=U432DQ0N

Part I – 26:02 2. Part II A – 14:55 3. Part II B – 18:14 4. Part II C – 6:57 @VBR mp3 A musical chameleon, pianist Keith Jarrett was at his finest when he recorded these sustained solo improvisations in a German concert hall in 1975, the first lasting 26 minutes, the second 40. Melodies and rhythmic figures arise fluidly from his fingers as he moves from one idea to another, while his strong left hand is often used for repeated motifs that generate a rolling hypnotic power. This couples with strongly consonant harmonies to impart the flavor of gospel music at times, dance musics and Debussy at others. Above all, it's Jarrett's ability to knit all of his moods and wanderings into an almost seamless tapestry of warm and tuneful ideas that gives this music its enduring appeal. --Stuart Broomer Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EL2PAZWR

When originally released, the disc sold over 100,000 copies—an incredible feat, since up to that point most tsugaru-shamisen recordings rarely sold more than a thousand copies in Japan. The album features mostly traditional tsugaru-shamisen songs, though hints of the Brothers’ signature style are starting to emerge. From the very beginning, it was clear that the group was bringing this ancient three-stringed instrument into modern times, interpreting its sound for a contemporary audience. This disc deservedly turned the Yoshida Brothers into rock stars in their native land, another rarity for tsugaru-shamisen instrumentalists. Take a listen to where the journey began. In the 1980s, new klezmer groups including The Klezmatics and Brave Old World wanted more than just to revive the traditions of the past but to once again create a "living tradition". They began to incorporate various styles, such as rock and roll, jazz, and even Latin music with age-old Jewish folk traditions. The Rough Guide To Klezmer Revival is a tribute to this remarkable resurgence, and features the giants of this ever-thriving musical tradition. Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TI0XUPMG

    Paolo Conte

Paolo Conte – Paris Milonga Album : Paris Milonga Artist : Paolo Conte Release Date : 1981 Genre : Jazz Total time : 00:38:54 Total size : 89,1 MB Tracks : 1. Alle Prese con una Verde Milonga 2. L'Ultima Donna 3. Blue Haways 4. La Vera Musica 5. Via con Me - (Italian) 6. Madeleine 7. Un'altra Vita 8. Boogie 9. Parigi 10. Pretend Pretend Pretend @ 320 Kbit/s mp3 By the time of his fourth album, Paris Milonga, Paolo Conte had perfectly defined his musical vision and stage persona, a mixture of weary seen-it-all cabaret piano player, humorous portraitist, and late-night philosopher. Alone at his piano or backed up by a small jazz ensemble, through melancholic ballads, stomping boogies, or sensual Latin rhythms, Conte goes over his usual repertoire of tired, slow burning, middle-age affairs and musings on the life of nightclub musicians and regulars. Conte is in spectacular form in Paris Milonga, a record that features at least four of his classics: "Alle Prese con una Verde Milonga," an homage to both anonymous musicians and to legendary Argentinean composer Atahualpa Yupanqui; "Parigi," that does for Paris what "Genova per Noi" did for Genoa; "Via con Me," arguably Conte's most famous song, soon adopted by Roberto Benigni for his standup comedy show, and "Boogie," a catalog of nightclub types and mating rituals that implausibly manages to be both hilarious and sexy. It matters little that, for instance, "Boogie" and "Via con Me" are essentially the same song with somewhat different lyrics. Conte's eye has seldom been this funny and poetic at the same time. He can do no wrong in Paris Milonga, as he sits back against his familiar jazzy grooves and delivers one memorable line after another (such as "I was looking for a woman and I found myself a comic opera"), in his ineffable detached style. A great album and a terrific introduction to one of Italy's best loved and most unique performers. ~ Mariano Prunes Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZHY4Q22P

"I had band problems, manager problems, record company problems," DeVille told the New York Times. "And yeah, I had drug problems. Finally I got a new recording contract, with Atlantic, and a new manager. I cleaned up my act. I figured that since playing music with people I was friends with didn't seem to work out, I would hire some mercenaries, some cats who just wanted to play and get paid. And those guys turned out to be more devoted to the music than any band I ever had. They're professional, precise, but they're full of fire, too." Epilogue (Pour Manfred Eicher) 6:24 @ 320 Kbit/s mp3 Conte de L'incroyable Amour is Tunisian composer and oud virtuoso Anouar Brahem's follow-up to his excellent ECM debut, Barzakh. Like its predecessor, this release contains original material that mixes Arabic music and jazz improvisation and features a stellar band comprised of some of Turkey's finest musicians (this time out Brahem is joined by clarinetist Barbaros Erkose, nay (reed flute) player Kudsi Ergune, and the percussionist from Barzakh, Lassad Hosni). In contrast to Barzakh's livelier mood, though, the sound here is more meditative and even stark at times, especially on solo flights by both Brahem ("Iram Retrouvee") and Erkose ("Etincelles") and by way of Erguner's ethereal improvisations ("Diversion"). The pace picks up on the sympathetically played and joyous ensemble piece "Conte de L'incroyable Amour" and on the impassioned Brahem and Erkose duet, "Nayzak." ECM's typically sparse and airy production compliments Brahem's ascetic material without making it sound too dry. A wonderful album that, upon repeated listening, reveals many transcendent moments. ~ Stephen Cook Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?f=5OTKM3BK

    Hiromi Uehara

Hiromi – Beyond Standard Album : Beyond Standard Artist : Hiromi Uehara Release Date : 2008 Label : Telarc Genre : Jazz Total time : 00:59:39 Total size : 109 MB Tracks : 1. Intro: Softly As In a Morning Sunrise 2. Softly As In a Morning Sunrise 3. Clair De Lune 4. Caravan 5. Ue Wo Muite Aruko 6. My Favorite Things 7. Led Boots 8. XYG 9. I've Got Rhythm @256 Kbit/s mp3 About the Artist Mentored by giants like Oscar Peterson, Ahmad Jamal and Chick Corea, Hiromi's roots are in jazz but her music explores a world of new ideas by blurring the boundaries of pop, rock, classical, avant-garde and other genres. Born in Shizuoka, Japan, in 1979, Hiromi discovered jazz when she took up the piano at age six. Within a year, she was a student of the Yamaha School of Music, whose progressive approach to musical training allowed the young student to tap into her emotions as well as mastering the technical aspects of writing and performing. At age 14, she went to Czechoslovakia and played with the Czech Philharmonic. Three years later, Corea invited her to perform with him. In 1999, Hiromi came to the United States to study at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Hiromi established her reputation when her 2003 Telarc debut, "Another Mind" - produced by Ahmad Jamal - shipped gold in Japan (100,000 units) and won the Recording Industry Association of Japan's (RIAJ) Jazz Album of the Year Award. Her 2004 release, "Brain," won the Horizon Award at the 2004 Surround Music Awards, Swing Journal's New Star Award, Jazz Life's Gold Album, HMV Japan's Best Japanese Jazz Album, and the Japan Music Pen Club's Japanese Artist Award (the JMPC is a classical/jazz journalists club). "Brain" was also named Album of the Year in Swing Journal's 2005 Readers Poll. Back in the U.S., Hiromi has been featured on the covers of Keyboard, Jazziz, Billboard, All About Jazz-LA and Goldmine. In 2006, Hiromi won Best Jazz Act at the Boston Music Awards and the Guinness Jazz Festival's Rising Star Award. She also claimed Jazzman of the Year, Pianist of the Year and Album of the Year in Swing Journal Japan's Jazz Readers Poll for her 2006 release, "Spiral." Product Description Hiromi's supergroup, Sonicbloom, has shattered the formula of making records written solely by the celebrated pianist/composer. Their latest outing, "Beyond Standard," finds Tony Grey (bass), Martin Valihora (drums), and Dave "Fuze" Fiuczynski (guitar and otherworldly sounds) helping Hiromi craft unique versions of familiar tunes such as Gershwin's "I Got Rhythm," Rogers & Hammerstein's "My Favorite Things" and even Jeff Beck's "Led Boots." The group has been recognized for its energetic virtuosity by music industry and mainstream publications alike: Downbeat, JazzTimes, Keyboard, and The New York Times. Playing festivals such as Glastonbury, Fuji Rock, and Playboy Jazz proves that Hiromi's unique fusion nuevo has been accepted in the world of jazz as well as rock. "Beyond Standard" is a showcase for Hiromi and her band's abilities, with each player getting plenty of room to shine. While most of the music on the album was penned by songwriters other than Hiromi, the album as a whole is a continuation of her previous release, "Time Control" (2007). "Beyond Standard" starts with a quick "Intro" that includes the popping and scratching sounds of a vinyl record, a signal that what you are about to hear are retro compositions performed in an updated and unique way. The music starts with an extension of her original tune, "Time's Up," the final track on "Time Control." Hiromi then gives a dramatic voicing to the theme of "Softly As In A Morning Sunrise." As the tune progresses, she and Fiuczynski trade some very playful fours, and Valihora takes a fresh approach, occasionally giving a backbeat to the jazz standard. In keeping with her defiance of easy categorization, Hiromi then covers Debussy's eternally famous "Claire de Lune," followed by the driving jazz standard, "Caravan," written by Juan Tizol and made famous by Duke Ellington. Hiromi's rendition has an almost Zappa-esque feel with a heart-pumping drum solo. Paying homage to the legendary Jeff Beck, the group covers "Led Boots," with Hiromi's keyboards sounding very much like the whah-whah effect on a guitar. In a complete 180, the band follows the Beck tune with Rogers & Hammerstein's "My Favorite Things," a song from the stage and film versions of The Sound of Music that later became jazz standard repertoire thanks to John Coltrane. "Ue Wo Muite Aruko" ("I Look Up When I Walk") was the only Japanese pop song to make it to #1 on the American pop charts. The song was released in Japan in 1961 and in the United States in 1963. Hiromi takes the still popular song and turns it into a funky explosion. "XYG" is Hiromi covering Hiromi. The track is an in-your-face adaptation of the song of the same name from her 2003 debut album, with the addition of Fiuczynski's roaring guitar. The album closes with Hiromi on solo piano, putting her spice on the Gershwin classic, "I Got Rhythm." She begins the tune with a playful, delicate touch that escalates to a landslide with bone-breaking riffs. Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=C79GT9L7 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6YBE368Q
  24. Hiromi – Time Control Album : Time Control Artist : Hiromi Uehara Release Date : 2007 Label : Telarc Genre : Jazz Total time : 01:13:50 Total size : 410 MB (FLAC) Tracks : 1. Time Flies - (with Hiromi's Sonicbloom) 9. Time's Up - (with Hiromi's Sonicbloom) @ FLAC The new release by keyboardist Hiromi Uehara and her trio doesn't fit easily into jazz categories. Electric and high-propulsion at times, it aligns with aspects of fusion, but shouldn't be limited by what that term has been burdened with over the years. Hiromi's Sonicbloom is international in its membership, with a Japanese leader, a Slovakian drummer (Martin Valihora), and a British bassist (Tony Grey). They're joined by guest guitarist Dave "Fuze" Fiuczynski (from Screaming Headless Torsos, Lunar Crash, and other outfits), and they recorded in--gasp--Nashville! Time is the thread that runs through many of the compositions, and they successfully bend its perception. From the multi-part "Time Out," which finds one part bursting out of another like nesting dolls, to the expansive tapestry of "Deep into the Night," which feels like a part of the continuity that is always blanketing half the earth, Hiromi and her compatriots go from being as precise as a clock to as haunting as a memory to as playful as a kitten (the wonderful "Time Flies" feels like it was composed in honor of a cat's darting attentions). --David Greenberger Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?f=HZ5XNGCE
