    Bela Fleck

Béla Fleck Crossing the Tracks Album : Crossing the Tracks Artist : Béla Fleck Release date : 1979 Number of discs : 1 Genre : Bluegrass Total size : 85,9 MB Total time : 00:37:20 Tracks : 1. Dear Old Dixie 2. Inman Square 3. Texas Barbeque 4. Growling Old Man and the Grumbling Old Woman 5. Spain 6. Crossing the Tracks 7. Spring Thaw 8. How Can You Face Me Now 9. Twilight 10. Frosty Morning 11. Ain't Gonna Work Tomorrow @ 320 Kbit/s mp3 So entrenched is banjoist Bela Fleck's reputation as one of bluegrass's most innovative and boundary-demolishing musicians that it's hard to be surprised now by the sounds on his 1979 debut CROSSING THE TRACKS. But taken in historical context, Fleck's first solo album sounded like nothing else on the bluegrass scene--or elsewhere, for that matter. With healthy doses of jazz, boogie, ballads, and pop all mixed in with old-timey bluegrass, Fleck and his superb acoustic ensemble set about deconstructing the very notion of bluegrass, a process Fleck would continue for the rest of his career. That journey begins here, and the crisp sound on the 2005 CD issue makes it all the more enjoyable to revisit. Personnel: Béla Fleck (fiddle); Béla Fleck (banjo); Mark Schatz (acoustic bass, upright bass); Pat Enright (vocals); Russ Barenberg (guitar); Jerry Douglas (dobro); Bob Applebaum (mandolin); Sam Bush, Randy Sabien (fiddle). 17 Hippies

17 Hippies Heimlich Artist: 17 Hippies CD title: Heimlich Release date: 2007 Number of Discs: 1 Genre: World Time: 00:54:51 Total size: 58,5 MB Tracks: 01-Schattenmann [03:38] 02-Son Mystère [03:50] 03-Wann War Das? They aren't hippies, and there are only 13 of them in their current lineup, but they have created a unique musical style by colliding a variety of mostly European influences, from Gypsy dance to French chanson and German cabaret, with just a hint of anything from ragtime and country to early English pop. They have an exquisite female singer, Kiki Sauer, who acts like a European answer to China Forbes of Pink Martini, as well as a deadpan male vocalist who can make a country hoedown sound like eerie folk psychedelia, while the backing includes anything from accordion to ukulele, saxophone, cello, violin and harmonica. The lyrics are in French, German and English, and the songs are never quite what you expect. So a grand emotional French ballad somehow manages to include a dash of country jollity, a frantic Gypsy work-out has mysterious echoes of Dylan, and the old Shadows hit, Apache, emerges as a thoughtful, wide-screen epic complete with horns and accordion. @192 Kbit/s mp3 Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CGPYIL6W

Joseph Haydn Cello Concertos (Coin, Hogwood, AOAM) Album : Joseph Haydn: Cello Concertos Artists : Christophe Coin, The Academy of Ancient Music, Christopher Hogwood Release date : 1983 Label : Decca Number of discs : 1 Genre : Classical Total size : 113 MB Total time : 00:49:22 On this CD : 1. Cello Concerto in C Major Hob. VIIb:1 I Moderato 2. Cello Concerto in C Major Hob. VIIb:1 II Adagio 3. Cello Concerto in C Major Hob. VIIb:1 III Finale: Allegro molto 4. Cello Concerto in D Major Hob. VIIb:2 I Allegro moderato 5. Cello Concerto in D Major Hob. VIIb:2 II Adagio 6. Cello Concerto in D Major Hob. VIIb:2 III Allegro @ 256 mp3 Perhaps the leading post-Harnoncourt cellist in the early music movement, Christophe Coin has developed a particular interest in music of late eighteenth century Vienna. He began studying the cello as a child in Caen, then enrolled in the Paris Conservatory, where his principal teacher was André Navarra. After taking first prize in a conservatory competition, Coin moved to Vienna where, at the Academy for Music, he became a disciple of Nikolaus Harnoncourt and performed in the latter's Concentus Musicus. Coin also studied with gamba guru Jordi Savall at the Schola Cantorum in Basle. Through Savall, he was able to perform with the ensemble Hesperion XX. Coin joined England's Academy of Ancient Music, with which he made several recordings as an orchestra member and as a soloist. In 1984 he founded his own chamber orchestra, Ensemble Mosaïques, but dissolved it the following year. He did salvage the name, at least, when he recruited leaders of its string section to join him in forming the Quatuor Mosaïques, a group mainly dedicated to the music of Mozart and Haydn, but also moving forward into scores by Beethoven and Schubert. In 1991 he was also named music director of the Limoges Baroque Ensemble. His academic appointments include a post at the Schola Cantorum in Basle, and heading studies in Baroque cello and viola da gamba at the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris. Although his performing career has been centered in Europe, Coin has become known to North American audiences through his recordings. Among his more CD projects are highly regarded recordings of Classical-era quartets, and a series of discs devoted to Bach cantatas featuring the violoncello piccolo. ~ James Reel, All Music Guide Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HIPRMYGX http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GTVQZTM7

The basic facility with which he articulated the High Renaissance style for a single instrument continues to make his music uniquely valuable. The present recording is a studio version of a concert held in 1997 in Milan for Francesco's 500th birthday. It is taken entirely from a relatively obscure source, one which arguably predates the first Marcolini print devoted to Francesco in 1536. It therefore presents a relatively distinct, and earlier, reading of this music. Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TL9S8AOB http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HFEPSAK4

Originally formed in 1986 by Klein and then partner, bass player Dirk Schoufs with guitarist Willy Lambregt, the band achieved international success by breaking down genre barriers within popular music. By effortlessly combining a rich variety of Mediterranean rhythms, along side melancholy gypsy music, Indian, and Arab sounds, it all showcased the trademark voice of Dani Klein. Vaya Con Dios went on to sell over 7 million albums and had such hit singles as 'Just A Friend Of Mine' and 'Puerto Rico' from their debut album 'Vaya Con Dios' in 1988 'What's a Woman' and 'Nah Neh Nah' from the album Night Owls in 1990. The albums — Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bayou Country, Green River, Willy & the Poor Boys, Cosmo’s Factory and Pendulum, all originally released from 1968-70 —have been remastered and contain B-sides and unreleased studio & live material. The packages artfully recreate the original covers and include previously unpublished photos and new liner notes from veteran music journalists like Ben Fong-Torres and Joel Selvin. By the time of Pendulum's release, Creedence was the top-selling rock band in the world, coming off seven consecutive Top 10 hits. The album contained the hits “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” “Hey Tonight” and “Molina.” Bonus tracks include a live “Hey Tonight” plus “45 Revolutions Per Minute (Parts 1 & 2), the rarest of CCR collectibles, which was packaged in a plain white sleeve alluding to the Beatles’ White Album. Produced under the spell of the Fab Four’s “Revolution No. 9,” the tape montage tries to impart the elusive Creedence humor with the help of Bay Area DJ Tom Campbell. Sweet Hitch-Hiker (2:56) @ 320 Kbit/s mp3 Mardi Gras is the seventh and final studio album by American band Creedence Clearwater Revival, released in 1972. The group broke up after this album was released. Previously, bandleader John Fogerty sang all the lead vocals and he wrote almost all the band's original material. His older brother Tom Fogerty had just left after a dispute which was in large part caused by the elder Fogerty's desire to play a larger creative role. For this album, Stu Cook and Doug Clifford shared the writing, singing, and production duties. Fogerty only contributed three original songs, and he sang a fourth lead on a cover of the early 1960s standard "Hello Mary Lou." Clifford and Cook each wrote and sang the lead vocals on three songs. The album was a commercial success peaking at #12 and going gold. However, it was considered weak compared to the sales of their previous albums. The album contained two Top 40 singles, both of which were contributed by Fogerty: the raucous "Sweet Hitch-Hiker" and the wistful swan song "Someday Never Comes." According to Stu Cook and Doug Clifford it was John's idea for all the members to contribute songs for the album, even though the two did not want to. Cantata No. 147, "Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben," BWV 147: Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring @ FLAC The "Baroque Favorites for Guitar" title of this CD implies that it might be a greatest-hits compilation or a collection of tunes aimed at newcomers to classical music, and the presence of the not-really-Albinoni Adagio among the contents reinforces this impression. In fact, it is nothing of the sort. It is the product of a long study on Isbin's part (of course, this isn't the kind of detail the marketing department is looking for!), study that has resulted in quite distinctive music making. The album includes mostly transcribed concertos, with a few solo works. Isbin worked with Bach pianist Rosalyn Tureck, learning about Baroque ornamentation and devising ways to transfer keyboard practices idiomatically to the guitar. Tureck did one transcription here (of the Adagio from Bach's Keyboard Concerto in F minor, BWV 1056); others were done by Isbin and her student Mats Bergstrom. They are highly effective, restrained, unsentimental renderings that display Bach's contrapuntal lines with maximum clarity. For two Vivaldi concertos that included lute parts, Isbin turns to arrangements by Catalan guitarist Emilio Pujol; they deliver real melodic lushness while allowing Isbin room to apply ornamentation lessons learned. The accompaniment by the Zürcher Kammerorchester hangs discreetly in the background like a well-trained butler. Is Sharon Isbin a has-been? Not from the evidence of this fine disc -- she seems instead to be breaking new ground as a performer. - James Manheim Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?f=CHZ9FR0S

Cantata No. 147, "Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben," BWV 147: Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring @ VBR mp3 The "Baroque Favorites for Guitar" title of this CD implies that it might be a greatest-hits compilation or a collection of tunes aimed at newcomers to classical music, and the presence of the not-really-Albinoni Adagio among the contents reinforces this impression.

Se Me Olvido Otra Vez @ VBR mp3 Biography by John Bush The best and longest preserved of the Mexican cancion ranchera singers, Chavela Vargas began singing rather late in life — past the age of thirty — but continued well into old age, charming audiences until she was well into her 70s. Born in Costa Rica in 1919, she first sang on a professional level in the early '50s, and toured with the legendary José Alfredo Jiménez. Her first recordings appeared in 1961, and she became quite popular during the 1960s and '70s, both in her native land as well as across the ocean in Spain and Europe. Although she retired in 1979, a victim of alcoholism, Vargas returned in 1990 after accepting a role in the Werner Herzog film A Cry of Stone. One year later, she contributed a song to the soundtrack of Tacones Lejanos, and in 1993 she entered a recording studio for the first time in decades. Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Z23CBJH4

Anyone who has explored Bamako’s intimate musical settings - street weddings, courtyard jam sessions and evening concerts at open-air "cultural spaces" where anyone might show up - knows this. And yet the jam session is a side of the music rarely heard in the polished studio recordings that have put this West African musical colossus on the map in recent years. This extraordinary concert, recorded at Bamako’s French Cultural Centre on 23rd December 2004, rights the balance, revealing the personalities, humour and improvisational mastery of some of the country’s finest musicians interacting in a once-in-a-lifetime formation. The line-up is remarkable for the calibre of musician present, the range of styles represented and the ease with which the artists traverse borders to make gorgeous, free-flowing music together. Midnight in Mali is that rare occasion when musical giants dare to risk the new, rely on their wits, and freely explore their shared heritage: the majestic, matchless variety of Malian music. Those people who were able to experience the golden age of Yiddish theater and music firsthand are now, unfortunately, largely gone. The new generation of singers does not compare with those writers, artists and performers who drew from their own personal experiences to produce works infused with a tremendous richness. However one jewel remains: Myriam Fuks. Born into a family of Yiddish singers with whom she toured since childhood, Myriam's performances fill her audiences with awe. She delivers every musical phrase with a naturalness and intimacy that otherwise seems to have been lost forever. What Myriam offers is simply the fruit of a life spent immersed in Yiddish culture. Yiddish – her mother tongue – is her way of life. Her life has been a voyage, often alone, but with a myriad of memories, jokes, suffering, and joy... in short, A Life. And her music reflects the depth of her experience. Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SGH20235
